My vision has been to create a clean, bright, spacious and warm environment where you can explore your creativity and share your passion with a community. My wish is that you will help me keep this shop vibrant and inviting by sharing your ideas and desires.
The shop is set up with the yarn displayed on the walls. Each specific yarn is displayed with a card. That card is color-coded to help you find yarns quickly within a given weight (ie. all lace weight yarn will be displayed with a pink card, fingering with a white card, etc.) Each card gives all the details about that yarn: name, manufacturer, fiber content, yardage, gauge, washing instructions, and price. We have color key cards to guide you.
Each yarn is displayed with two skeins/hanks/balls of each color. The idea is that if you find a yarn you are interested in, take one of the two balls off the wall. We can then check inventory to see how much of that yarn we have in stock. It is a simple scan of the barcode. If you are someone who needs to see more yarn together to get a sense of that yarn, we will gladly bring more yarn forward for you.
We will carry both metal and wood knitting needles and crochet hooks. Each specific size will be hung separately, but the metal and wood will be on the same hook. Also, for the circulars, all the lengths will be on the same hook. There is only one of each needle displayed for now. Just ask at the counter for the needle that you need. The notions will have multiples on the same hook. Take what you need and bring it up to the counter.
The big table in front is always available to knit around. There is a couch and chair in the middle room, and a couple of chairs in the back room to sit and knit in. I have coffee and tea in the back. I am encouraging people to bring their own mug to keep at the shop. The cold water is filtered, and for now there are plastic bottles of water in the mini-fridge.
I am still in the process of ordering yarn and have yet to receive some of my needles and notions, but new things will keep arriving throughout the Fall. I hope you will drop by from time to time to see the shop evolve.
