A yarny year in review

A year in review – 2018

And what a year 2018 was! It started off with a bang in January when Pam joined the Birdhouse team and brought her infectious passion for yarn to the store.

Throughout the spring we participated in a series of Craft in Public events all over Tucson with local dyers Dream in Color. This November we also ventured out to the St.Philips Plaza Farmer’s Market to help Skacel Yarns convert 10,000 people into knitters.

We added lots of new yarns to the shop and are excited to add more.

Dyers and designers

Local dyers Desert Bloom Yarns, Traveling Yarns and renown designer Yumiko Alexander of DanDoh brought trunk shows to Birdhouse. And we were honored to have the one and only StevenBe aka the Glitter Knitter come play with us not once, but twice this year sharing yarns, talking yarns, and teaching classes.

There were knit-alongs both formal and informal including a Hike the Yarn Trail shawl designed by our very own Holly.

What are your favorite yarny memories of 2018?

Yarn forward – 2019

As we look to 2019 we have more trunk shows planned – Traveling Yarns will be back, and we’re hoping that Dragon Hoard and Lolodidit will also join the fun. We’re also thinking about classes and yarns.

What do you want? Are there new techniques you want to try? Types of yarn you’d like to see more of?
