Fair Isle is a wonderful colorwork technique in knitting. You only use 2 colors on a row, but the variety of color can be endless. It’s fun. It’s easy and a great way to use smaller quantities of yarn to create a beautiful effect. This class will cover the techniques – two-handed knitting, stranding, knitting in the round, and working with motifs. You will then apply these techniques to make a pair of fingerless mitts. (Basic knitting skills needed.)
Materials: Practice yarn in two or more colors and needles appropriate to that yarn. For the mitts you will need fingering weight yarn in five colors. We carry a shetland fingering yarn in small skeins that is perfect for this project. One skein of each color can produce 1 to 2 pairs of mitts. Scissors and other knitting notions as desired.
This is a project that requires two meetings.
Total Cost: $40
