How did this happen? It’s exactly four weeks tomorrow to my gift knit deadline and I’m in a mad panic! I’ve whittled the knit worthy list down to five people. So what to knit?! Here is our curated list of quick knits:
- Bumble hat complete with bobble by Tin Can Knits
Tin Can Knits patterns are so wonderfully straight forward I know I won’t be spending time on trying to interpret the pattern. The wide range of sizes available in Tin Can Knits means I have my youngest to my oldest covered. I’m going to be knitting one, possibly two of these beauties out of Ciao by Jody Long, a 100% super wash Merino wool. If I have the time I might make mittens to match, but definitely violin scroll hats to match so my children can be festive when performing at their winter concert. The yarn shows off the textural pattern beautifully and the DK weight means those hats are flying of the needles. - Straight as an Arrow The Hat by Fatimah Hinds
Another hat that is all about texture and a brilliant opportunity to show off one of those hand-dyed skeins of DK you’ve been holding on to. I’m eyeing some of Gherkin’s Bucket Silky Yak DK. Each year I promise myself I’ll finish a hat for my children’s brilliant violin teacher…fingers crossed this will be the year. - The Shift cowl by Andrea Mowry
My dear friend Wendy has been eyeing my progress on my Nightshift shawl, but I’m not making it in her colors, but I could whip up The Shift Cowl in Edition 3 by Schoppel, something nice and jewel colored! Or maybe the… - Sand Cast Cowl by Jennifer Berg in Silky Wool Aran by Elsebeth Lavold.
The rich colors of the Carmine and Caramel would be great together… or maybe the Eggplant and Caviar? This would probably be a quicker knit. Shhhhh, don’t tell Wendy, she’s getting a Sand Cast Cowl! - Urban Aran Mitts by Robbie Laughlin
These are for my honey. Perfect for keeping the chill from chaffing his knuckles when he rides his bike on the way to work. I have a skein of Dream in Color Classy that will be perfect!
